Using this tool in practice
Choose an activity and enter sale quantity, price and total cost. Check whether the price covers the cycle before negotiating. Add an activity for each production and period. Open advanced options to separate costs, losses, additional revenue and actual cash records. Scenarios let you test your own production or pricing assumptions.
Fictional demonstration example
Fictional example, not market prices: producing and selling 100 units at 5 with costs of 300 gives revenue 500, profit 200 and margin 40%. If only 80 of the 100 are sold, unit cost uses 100 while break-even price uses 80.
Formulas, assumptions and limits
Revenue = sold × price + additional income. Profit = revenue − cost. Margin = profit / revenue × 100. Unit cost = cost / produced. Break-even price = (cost − additional income) / sold. Break-even quantity requires a specified variable cost, equal production and sales, price above variable cost and grid costs treated as fixed. Rounding to currency precision occurs for display only. Depreciation counts as cost, investments do not; cash is recorded separately. Taxes, loans and statutory accounting are not calculated automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Is estimated profit the same as cash balance?
No. Estimates cover the production cycle and costs, including depreciation. Cash includes only receipts and payments recorded on selected dates. A credit sale may be included in an estimate before cash is received.
